Therapy Towards Liberation
My approach
I view therapy as a collaborative, unfolding process that considers clients holistically. I draw from feminist and somatic approaches, using IFS to help you reconnect with your centered-self, those around you, and broader structures of support and thriving.
Feminist/Structural Approach: Who you are in your context? What are the broader societal, cultural, familial, and structural systems that shape your experiences? Together, we can explore intersecting identities and work to dismantle shameful narratives, identify your values, and find supportive and aligned community.
Somatics: Our nervous systems are shaped by past trauma and often become stuck in activated or frozen patterns of survival. Slowly and intentionally we can re-orient you to the embodied present moment and find strategies for regulation through movement, breathing, and awareness.
Internal Family Systems (IFS): It can feel challenging to sift through our many, and sometimes conflicting, motivations and emotions. Using IFS we can identify parts and move towards a place of inner-knowing, balance, compassion, and curiosity.
About Me
I'm a white, non-binary, non-monogamous, fat, neurotypical, able-bodied leftist. I've worked as a yoga instructor and birth doula. I live in MO with a partner and enjoy hiking with our dogs, board-gaming, playing music, and reading tarot and astrology.
I’m honored to hold space with clients in times of darkness or transition. We live in a chaotic world where fascism, patriarchy, ableism, capitalism, white supremacy, and colonialism (among other oppressive forces) are deeply affecting our bodies and the land. We all need emotional support in processing their impacts. Healing can be a collaborative, mutual project! And therapy can be a tool for liberatory change for ourselves, our relationships, and communities.
